About 20 years ago, before we believed in declawing our kitties, they would use our expensive Polk 5 stereo speakers as their personal scratching posts. By the time we got around to building them a scratching post, the damage was done - the speaker covers were scratched, scarred, and generally ratty looking. Then, an epiphany - why not find some cotton fabric that’s thick enough to mount, yet sheer enough for sound to penetrate?
After locating cotton of the proper thickness, dyeing the fabric in a multicolor way (figure SC-1), carefully removing the factory-installed speaker covers and mounting our ‘gussied up’ speaker covers, we created functional art, and they rocked.
If interested in having us tie-dye and mount your speaker covers, please hit the ‘contact us’ button at the bottom of the page to work out the pricing and logistics.
Below are examples of patterns which can be done (although there is no way to exactly duplicate any of the below!)
